The bird in this painting is (very) loosely based on a Tauhou (Wax eye). which I often saw outside my studio window in Sumner. Christchurch. Following the devastating Feb 22^nd earthquake. this little guy reappeared when I first ventured back into my studio weeks later and filled me with a sense of calm and hope.
